I am now involved with a number of new media projects which I will keep you updated on.
In a couple of weeks I will be off to Brighton to film the promotional footage for Europe’s first and largest whale and dolphin conversation event, ‘WhaleFest 2011‘ with my coursemates Rachel Davies and Holly Stott-Penna. I’m really looking forward to being a part of this because it will allow me to meet with some important people in the nature documentary industry and will be a great opportunity to network and make some useful contacts.
I am also going to be part of a production team filming and editing ‘A Day In The Life Of A Consultant’ for the British Medical Association. The idea is to produce a short 5 minute film of what it is like to work as a consultant in a hospital which will then be put on their website to show people. As I’m actually a regular viewer of medical programmes, I think this is going to be a really eye opening experience to see what it is like to film in a hospital and in a operating theatre….should be interesting!
As well as this I am also going to be involved in filming and editing a short film about the development of the Penarth Pier Development to show how it used to look in the past, how it looks now and the plans for it’s future. This is then going to be posted on the website for the Penarth Pier Development Project and myself and my coursemates will also be setting up an event to showcase it to people in the area.
More recently, today I have also been given the opportunity to work on a couple of other projects which are going to allow me to expand on my knowledge of media production like filming for a dance troupe with the possibility of filming in India. This will be a great experience to see the challenges of filming abroad but it will definitely be worthwhile.
I am also looking forward to being part of a writing team for some comedy sketches which I will also be filming as I love comedy and would like to see more of what it’s like ‘behind the scenes’. I am also going to be creating a music video for a local band from South Wales.
All of these projects are going to help contribute to the development of my skills of camera, editing, sound and generally being organised. I’ll keep you all updated on how everything is going as well as any other interesting news. It’s going to be a lot of hard work but it’s all going to be worth it!
